In this context “monuments and sites” are objects which can be a single archeological find, a building, as well as an archeological site. The repository will provide storage for different types of data, from text, image and film documents, though geophysical data, and 3D scans, integrated spatial geoinformation and archeoinformation data. One of the challenges that the group is facing is the adoption and implementation of an appropriate standard system for data and metadata acquisition, recording, archiving and dissemination, which will enable the usage of different types of data for a comprehensive description of a particular monument or site.

The group will work in close cooperation with European institutions and networks, among others with those associated in ARIADNE and members of DARIAH EU.

Both the infrastructure and the tools which will result from the group’s work shall be, when possible, shared with all anyone interested. All work shall be coordinated with the activities of other working groups with DARIAH-PL consortium and DARIAH ERIC.

PARTICIPANTS

University of Warsaw (leader)

Jagiellonian University in Krakow (DARIAH-PL)

Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (DARIAH-PL)

Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (DARIAH-PL)

Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (DARIAH-PL)

Maria Curie-Skłodowska University w Lublin (DARIAH-PL)

Institute of Archeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences

University of Agriculture in Krakow

University of Wrocław (DARIAH-PL)

TEAM

The group is led by Professor Adam Cieślinski.

The group has been divided into five working groups and four areas of interest, each of them having an assigned leader.

Working groups:

Geomatics – Nicolaus Copernicus University (Tomasz Górzyński)

Geophysics – Institute of Archeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Tomasz Herbich)

3D imaging – University of Warsaw (Marta Bura)

Archive records – University of Warsaw (Robert Mahler)

Databases and repository systems – University of Warsaw (Jakub Szprot)

Areas of interest:

Numismatics – University of Warsaw (Tomasz Więcek)

Cultural landscape – Adam Mickiewicz University (Janusz Czebreszuk)

Regional catalogues of archeological sites – Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Piotr Łuczkiewicz)

Monuments and sites analysis and restoration – Jagiellonian University (Mateusz Biborski).

OPERATION TIME

5 years

CONTACT

archeo@lach.edu.pl

The main task of the working group is the creation of a comprehensive repository system that will enable the storage of extensive archeological records of monuments and sites.
